Big Changes in NTSE Stage-2 Examination

Big Changes in NTSE Stage-2 conducted on 13 May 2018

The following decision has been taken by the review committee of NTSE Examination in the meeting held on 31 July 2017. The modification in the NTSE Stage -2 examination will include a number of papers, number of questions, areas to be tested, time for testing and the practice of negative marking etc.

No Negative Marking: Earlier, the deduction of 1/3 of the marks as a negative marking was done for every wrong answer. But after the decision of the committee, it is decided that from now onwards, there would be no negative marking in both the NTSE papers i.e. MAT and SAT. Only candidates qualifying in both the papers separately will be considered for merit.

No LCT subject test: Earlier, there were three subjects in the NTSE Stage 2 exam pattern which were MAT, LCT and SAT. But from this year, the Language Test has been eliminated and there are only two subjects (MAT & SAT) left. Paper-1 MAT(100 Questions) and Paper-2 SAT (100 Questions: 40 Science, 20 Maths & 40 Social Science)

Changes in Time Duration: Earlier time allotted for each paper was 90 minutes. But now time duration for each paper (Paper-1 & Paper-2) will be 120 minutes.

Reporting Time at the Centre: The candidates will be supposed to report at the examination centre at 9:00 AM. Earlier, it was 8:00 AM.

Changes in category percentage: The qualifying examination for the General category is 40% and for SC, ST and PH category is 32% in each paper.
